I create bespoke walking sticks and custom walking sticks that are handcrafted to meet each customer’s specific needs. The majority of my work specializes in handmade dog sticks, often carved from photographs provided by the customer, allowing us to collaborate in producing a likeness and a cherished keepsake.
Every stick is meticulously handcrafted according to the client’s specifications, with many designs inspired by the photographs supplied. To commission a stick, please reach out to me via email at mark@stickcraft.info.
For handmade dog sticks, kindly provide at least three photographs, including a profile (side of head) shot, a front face shot, and a back of the head shot. Additionally, please include details of any distinguishing marks and the stick's length from tip to top.
All sticks are typically finished with a brass ferrule unless instructed otherwise. Alternative options include a rubber ferrule, a combination ferrule (spike with rubber tip), or no ferrule at all.
Most of the sticks are treated with either Danish oil or polyurethane varnish, with a gloss finish for the shank and a choice of matte or satin for the top, all durable for continuous outdoor use. However, it is advised not to store or leave the stick outdoors for extended periods.
The tops of most sticks are carved from lime, sycamore, or canary poplar—excellent durable hardwoods that are perfect for achieving fine detail.
