I make bespoke and custom-made handcrafted walking sticks tailored to the customer’s specific requirements. The main bulk of my work focuses around dog sticks usually carved from photographs supplied by the customer, where we work together to produce a likeness and a keepsake.
All sticks are carefully handcrafted to the client’s specification, many from photographs supplied. To commission a stick, please contact me by email at mark@stickcraft.info.
For dog sticks, please supply at least three photographs, including a profile (side of head) shot, a front face shot and back a of head shot, plus details of any distinguishing marks, together with the length of the stick from tip to top.
All sticks are finished with a brass ferrule unless otherwise instructed, options are a rubber ferrule, a combination ferrule (spike with rubber tip) or none.
Most of the sticks are finished in either Danish oil or polyurethane varnish, gloss for the shank and matt or satin for the top, all suitable for continuous outdoor use. However, it is not advised to store or leave the stick outdoors for any long periods of time.
Most stick tops are carved from lime, sycamore or canary poplar, all excellent durable hardwoods perfect for carving fine detail.
